1. Chair’s Opening Remarks and Updates
(RB) Today’s meeting will mainly focus on arrangements for the upcoming meeting at Derby, finalizing personnel and roles to ensure everything runs according to plans, especially given some time restrictions made by our hosts.
2. Arrangements for Derby
It was agreed that the additional organization involved in holding a raffle during the day may well be a step too far this time and will be resumed at later meetings.
Lengthy discussions revolved around the introduction of the Members’ Register and the process of members signing in on the day.
Several key locations where this could be achieved were identified, but the consensus was by moving guest signature numbers collection to the ‘front desk’ alongside the auction bidding form & paddle collection would offer two opportunities to remind members to sign the register. This would also allow guests to sign in/join and pay the relevant fee.
PL reported all was in place for the auction, with the welcome addition of an extra volunteer from within the membership.
RB will collect orders and payments for lunch on the day
3. CMS Charity Autumn 26 – Spring 28
Following discussion it was agreed that the CMS should adopt the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation as our nominated charity.
4. Request for funding
RB had received further details of the joint application for funding donation towards the research being undertaken by members Geoff Wellsteed and Malcolm Lorimer. The amount proposed previously was agreed at £500 and will be offered to the researchers, who would also be requested to offer a 20% discount on the sale of their resulting book to members. No further grants will be available for this CMS year but will be available in future years.
5. AOB
SC reported frustrating delays from our printer, resulting in magazines being delivered only in the latter part of this week.
RB reported a lack of response from proposed new Presidents.
Ad hoc feedback from members over the course of the summer was mixed regarding the possibility of our March meeting being held at West Bromwich Dartmouth CC. SC has visited the club to discuss potential arrangements (a dinner with the usual formalities, and/or a wall plaque on the clubhouse recording the foundation of the CMS in 1987) but concerns remain regarding conflicts with the club hosting other gatherings linked with West Brom FC and the general appeal among the CMS membership.
RB confirmed that potential guest invitations for Leicester were well in hand and there followed a discussion regarding a possible March meeting at the Oval should the above meeting not prove viable.
